Digital Foundry Part 3: Digital Sculpting & Scanning
Digital Foundry Workshop Series
Digital Foundry is a workshop series designed to introduce students to digital tools that can be integrated into traditional foundry practices.
The series will cover 3D modeling & digital sculpting and introduce students to 3D printing for both sand casting and lost-wax casting. The goal is to guide participants through the full workflow, helping them build confidence with using contemporary digital tools while having hands-on experience transforming digital designs into cast metal works.
Part 3: Introduction to Digital Sculpting, 3D Scanning & 3D Reconstruction.
The final workshop in the Digital Foundry Series introduces participants to the basics of digital sculpting using Blender. Participants will learn the fundamentals of digital sculpting through hands-on exercises while also exploring & experimenting with 3D scanning and 3D reconstruction software. The workshop will showcase how digital tools can be used together, including how scanned objects can be integrated into a digital sculpting workflow. We will experiment with creating, modifying, and combining digital forms to develop digital art that can be 3D printed and cast. The workshop is an opportunity to learn how to experiment with digital tools and discover new possibilities that can be introduced into your foundry practice.
This workshop is beginner-friendly and experimental. Come learn and play!
